Term Effective: Fall 2021

Description:

See the state issued Transfer Model Curriculum (TMC) Template for any further clarification regarding program requirements.

The Kinesiology Associate in Arts for Transfer degree is designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and baccalaureate degree. California Community College students who are awarded an ADT are guaranteed admission with junior standing somewhere in the CSU system. This priority does not guarantee admission to specific majors or campuses. Current and prospective community college students are encouraged to meet with a counselor to develop an educational plan that best meets their goals and needs.

Students will have to fulfill the following requirements to earn this degree.
Completion of 60 semester or 90 quarter CSU-transferable units that include:

  • A minimum of 24-27.5 semester units as required for the Associates in Arts for Transfer in Kinesiology for, and
  • The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC); and
  • Obtainment of a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 and earn a grade of “C” or better in all courses required for the major.
  • Program Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:

    1. Demonstrate content knowledge in the Kinesiology core, career areas, human anatomy, and physiology, physiological response to exercise, and the mechanics and control of human movement.
    2. Explain breadth of occupational and educational pathways in Kinesiology.
    3. Demonstrate competency in and successful application of Kinesiology-related skills.
    4. Demonstrate the ability to think critically through the performance and evaluation of health, fitness, and movement assessment.

    Associate Degree Requirements:

The major is one of several requirements students need to fulfill in order to be awarded the Associate Degree, the highest level of academic achievement recognized by Santa Rosa Junior College. Please note that all of the following requirements must be met in order for the degree to be conferred:

For all students admitted for the Fall 2009 term or any term thereafter, a grade of "C" or better, or "P" if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis, is required for each course applied toward the major.

Course Prerequisites and Advisories:

Courses in a program of study may have prerequisites or advisories; that is, courses that must or should be completed before taking that course. Please check for prerequisites or advisories by clicking on the course numbers in the Program Requirements section.

It is important that students who are completing an Associate Degree and desire to transfer to a four-year institution meet with a counselor to plan their lower division coursework. While many majors at SRJC are intended to align with lower division major preparation required by California public universities, specific lower-division major requirements vary among individual campuses. See a counselor, visit the Transfer Center, and check Guides For Transfer in Specific Majors, and ASSIST to review transfer preparation guides for specific schools and majors.

Notes:

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR STUDENTS:
