Description:
The Management Certificate of Achievement is designed for students who are or will be working in a supervisory capacity. The coursework provides students with a broad foundation of information related to current supervisory issues, as well as the ability to practice with "hands-on" experiences. Students learn how to deal with employee issues in courses such as Human Resource Management, Mediation of Conflict, and Interviewing. Students learn to work with peers, through such classes as Building Effective Work Groups, Management of Meetings, and Effective Leadership. Having completed the coursework, students are prepared for a range of issues dealing with managing people and building teams within an organization.
Possible job titles include: Retail Store Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Manufacturing Supervisor.
Entry and second level supervisors and managers are in demand for manufacturing and service industries. The certificate courses are designed to be broad in scope and consequently these skills are useful in many businesses.

Program Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this certificate, the student will be able to:
- Apply necessary skills required for managing the complex human interactions and employee performance issues required of supervisors and managers;
- demonstrate analytical, quantitative, and decision-making skills necessary to manage in a complex organizational setting;
- demonstrate communication and presentation skills, both in written and oral formats, required of supervisors and managers; and
- recognize and apply appropriate management and leadership principles needed to efficiently and effectively meet objectives in a diverse and fast changing organizational setting.
