The Summer Repertory Program is on hiatus
The Theatre Arts: Repertory Theatre Certificate of Achievement is designed for individuals who are interested in learning the professional skills required to work in the regional theatre, summer stock, and national tours. This 12 unit program prepares students to work on multiple shows at a time as a stagehand/running crew, wardrobe assistant, production assistant or ensemble actor. The full-time student can complete this program in one semester.
Regional theatres, summer stock companies, and national tours require professionals who understand how to work in fast-paced, intensive, creative environment. This program requires students to put theory to the test and work continuously under the professional repertory theatre system.
Seasonal or full-time jobs are plentiful throughout the country. Students receive the technical training they need to qualify for entry-level jobs in this filed. Successful completion of this certificate also proves to prospective employers that students have the experience they are looking for.
Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:
- Develop self-awareness and confidence through creative expression;
- Collaborate and effectively communicate in a theatre setting;
- Demonstrate an understanding of time management, commitment, follow-through, and responsibility to achieve a common goal in a theatre setting;
- Creatively analyze, critique, and interpret works of theatrical art;
- Identify, summarize, compare and contrast the principal movements in World theatre history and literature;
- Serve in a production position to gain understanding of the collaborative and complex nature of a live performance;
- Demonstrate an understanding of and empathy for the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity of U.S. and World theatre; and
- Utilize current theatrical technology.
