ASTR 12 Astronomy Observational Lab Description: Observational laboratory in astronomy. Students will utilize small aperture telescopes, binoculars, star charts and planispheres. Constellation identification and terrestrial and celestial coordinate systems will be introduced. Short exposure and deep sky astrophotography will be conducted. In the case of inclement weather, students will utilize the planetarium, classroom, or computer lab to perform required labs. There will also be two additional mandatory synchronous Zoom meetings from 6:30-8:00pm on Thursday, 9/18 and Thursday, 9/25. This compressed class will have approximately 6 hours per week of online, asynchronous content. If any field trips are cancelled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, class may meet in an alternate location of Rm. 2039 Lark Hall, or alternate versions of the field trip activities may be completed asynchronously online instead at the instructors' discretion.
