Description:
The AS in Digital Media: Digital Filmmaking is designed for students to get a focused overview of the digital media production process. Students will learn the language of cinema, how to use technology to capture images and sound, and how to edit. Students can choose to focus on fiction or non-fiction modes of production. Students work in teams using a variety of cutting-edge technologies to create original works. Completers can choose to enter the production industry, or use these core units to further their studies (see Film, Television, and Electronic Media AS-T).
Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:
- Analyze visual media from a technical, aesthetic, historic, and cultural point-of-view;
- Demonstrate fluency in the language of film production and criticism;
- Plan, organize, and execute the production of digital media projects;
- Collaborate effectively in production teams;

The major is one of several requirements students need to fulfill in order to be awarded the Associate Degree, the highest level of academic achievement recognized by Santa Rosa Junior College. Please note that all of the following requirements must be met in order for the degree to be conferred:
For all students admitted for the Fall 2009 term or any term thereafter,
a grade of "C" or better, or "P" if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis,
is required for each course applied toward the major.
