Description:

The Dreamweaver Web Content Developer Skills Certificate is designed to provide students with the skills needed to succeed as a Dreamweaver Web developer. Dreamweaver certification is based on a thorough knowledge of HTML, Dreamweaver, and practical experience working on a client Web site. Dreamweaver content developers are responsible for understanding HTML, Cascading Style Sheets, Dreamweaver, the FTP process, and the Web Development cycle.

The Dreamweaver content developer is responsible for assembling and organizing site content, making the pages using Dreamweaver, loading them onto the web, and testing them on various browsers and hardware configurations. Depending on the project, a Dreamweaver developer may also be asked to edit the written content and make minor modifications to images.

In addition to using Dreamweaver, students are expected to have a strong background in HTML. Dreamweaver content developers need to be able to look at the HTML source code created by the software and edit or modify it as needed. Dreamweaver is a powerful and time saving tool, but it is not a substitute for an understanding of the basic principles of HTML.

This program stresses the practical application of web development skills on real life projects. Students are expected to work in teams to create web sites for non-profit organizations in Sonoma County. The ability to work in a group, communicate with a client, resolve problems, meet deadlines, and understand the web development cycle are just as important as understanding HTML or creating pages using Dreamweaver. This hands-on approach ensures that as students complete the program, they will have practical experience, as well as working web sites to feature in an electronic portfolio.

A successful Dreamweaver web content developer exhibits a strong work ethic, perfectionist standards, patience, strong people skills and shows an attention to detail.

Job titles include: Dreamweaver Production Specialist, Dreamweaver Developer, Web Developer, Dreamweaver Coder.
