Catalog Description:

Students will be assigned to private, general and speciality dental offices in Sonoma County to complete clinical practice hours to meet the requirements of the California Dental Board to become licensed. Students will further their skills in chairside techniques with the emphasis on performance of the Registered Dental Assisting (RDA) tasks.

Description:

COURSE CONTENT

Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate all of the tasks legally delegated to the RDA in both

a general and a specilty practice, at the beginner level. 2. Identify and apply skills necessary to participate as a member of a dental team and contribute to the comfort and safety of patients.

3. Demonstrate ethical behavior and professionalism as defined in the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) Code of Ethics.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate ethics and professionalism as a member of the dental healthcare team.

2. Function as a chairside dental assistant in both general and specialty dental practices.

3. Perform instrument processing procedures.

4. Perform all RDA tasks under the appropriate level of supervision.

2. Task completion sheet at end of each rotation (2) i.e. sealants, coronal polish and other RDA functions
