Performance for competency evaluation of radiographic procedures in assigned radiology departments under the direct supervision of a registered radiologic technologist. Students draw upon principles of anatomy and physiology, patient care, radiation protection, and radiographic technique in the practice of patient positioning. Clinical experience is gained through attendance and completion of the course objectives.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Position patients accurately in all radiographic and fluoroscopic
examinations as taught in RT 61A, RT 61B, and RT 61C.
2. Successfully complete the required schedule of competencies.
3. Complete the clinical hour requirements.

Topics and Scope

1. Practice positioning on patients of all ages and health conditions.
2. Practice transporting and care on all patients of all ages and health
conditions.
3. Practice appropriate radiation protection to patients of all ages and
health conditions, self, and others.
4. Conduct oneself in ethical and professional manners.
