Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

The student will:

1.  Acquire and demonstrate background knowledge in outdoor

   recreation in the areas of career opportunities, educational

   requirements, and qualifications and duties of field personnel.

2.  Identify and discuss the various federal, state, local and

   private recreation agencies.

3.  Know and describe the historical development of outdoor recreation

   and the conservation movement in the United States.

4.  Develop and demonstrate a knowledge of the socio-economic factors

   of user groups affecting participation in outdoor recreation.

5.  Analyze and differentiate among various recreation areas in

   Northern California.

6.  Develop and practice public speaking skills through interpretive

   presentations to an audience of his/her peers.

Assignments:

Students will be required to complete:

1.  Reading assignments that will average fifteen pages per week.

2.  An oral presentation project of twenty minutes in length on an

   outdoor recreation activity or area.

3.  A term paper of five typed pages discussing an outdoor

   recreation area activity or contemporary problem associated with

   outdoor recreation.

4.  Approximately twenty written evaluations of classroom oral

   presentations.
