COURSE CONTENT

Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Describe and demonstrate roofing principles and regulations related to the roofing trade.  

2. Apply best practices in practical environment related to the roofers' trade.

 

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Demonstrate the methods of roof preparation and the handling

    and loading of built-up roofing materials.

2. Describe the application procedures of built-up roof

    assemblies.

Topics and Scope

I.  Safety

II. Built-up Roofing

    A. Preparation, handling, and loading of built-up roofing materials

    B. Mopping operations

    C. Application of built-up roof assemblies

    D. Insulation and its application

    E. Cutting and folding of corners

    F. Sumps and drains

    G. Flashing

Assignments:

1. Homework assignments (1 to 2 sets per week)

2. Quizzes and examinations (4 to 6 per semester)

3. Class performances and field work (on-the-job demonstrations) of skill development, safety

    practices, equipment, and material handling.
