At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

2.  Explain strategies for dealing with communication and behaviorally-based challenges
    associated with dementia from the perspective of a caregiver.
3.  List and explain community resources available to assist families with dementia and
    end-of-life care.

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Explain and contrast symptoms of various forms of dementia
2. Outline the progression of Alzheimer's disease
3. Examine and evaluate difficulties faced by families of clients with dementia
4. Explain the communication and behavioral difficulties in dementia client case studies
5. Evaluate response techniques to communication and behavioral difficulties
6. Examine common emotional responses to dementia from the family's and the caregiver's
    perspective
7. Evaluate enrichment activities and their benefits to clients with dementia
8. List and explain different types of end-of-life care
9. Discuss the various types of local resources available for end of life care assistance
10. Explain the importance of respite care
