The Concert Choir is a 40-60-voice mixed ensemble dedicated to the study, rehearsal, and performance of a cappella and accompanied choral literature from the Renaissance to the contemporary era. The Concert Choir performs at least two on-campus concerts each year and tours annually. Students should complete four semesters of each component (A-B-C-D) before enrolling in the next component.

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1.  Sing college-level choral literature in public performance.
2.  Sight-read his/her assigned vocal line accurately.
3.  Sing with stylistically appropriate vocal technique and tone color.
4.  Demonstrate choral skills including blend, intonation, and pitch memory.
5.  Demonstrate professionalism including preparation, punctuality,
   proper concert attire, and regular attendance at rehearsals and
   concerts.
Student repeating Concert Choir will be able to:
1.  Demonstrate greater technical achievement in their vocal performance.
2.  Articulate musical phrases with greater clarity.
3.  Perform with higher standards of intonation.
4.  Demonstrate a more sophisticated comprehension of dynamics, phrasing,
   musical expression, and nuance.
5.  Demonstrate greater skill in sight-reading.
6.  Perform a more extensive repertoire.

Assignments:

1.  In-class rehearsal and preparation of assigned works.
2.  A minimum of one hour of outside practice per week is required for
   each hour of rehearsal.
3.  Attendance and participation at sectional rehearsals when scheduled.
4.  Participation in concerts, tours, and other field trips as scheduled.
5.  Final exam will be a public concert.
6.  Students repeating Concert Choir will be held to higher standards of
   performance with each repetition.
