Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
1. Identify themes and concerns of the writers studied,
2. Recognize common characteristics of the body of literature,
3. Articulate the political, social, and cultural issues present in the
literature.
4. Interpret and analyze the effects of the literary techniques used in
the works,
5. Identify the diversity of experience embodied in the literature,
6. Compose coherent written analyses of chosen works,
7. Evaluate the merit, effectiveness, and significance of each work.
8. Identify major theoretical issues underlying the literature which are
relevant to understanding race, ethnicity, gender, and class in the U.S.
9. Examine the issues of class, sexual orientation, age, religions,
disability, and/or Deaf culture particular to the Asian American
experience and in comparison to other American Cultural groups.
