At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Study various cultures and historic periods. As they investigate
these periods they will emphasize the following:
A. Physical fashion.

2. weather
B. Socio economic factors.
1. religion
2. politics
3. economy
4. wars
5. philosophy or lifestyle
C. Fashion rulers of the time.
D. Major fashion contributions for men and women.
E. Ways in which styles of this time are incorporated into
modern day dress.
2. Compare and contrast various periods of historic dress, regarding
use of silhouette, color, fabric, role of women and men and finally
as a means for class distinction.
3. Analyze how dress affects various aspects of our lives including
success, happiness, status, comfort and freedom.
4. Analyze present day fashions in terms of how they draw from historic
ideas.
