COURSE CONTENT

Outcomes and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

The student will be able to:
1.   Review the Interior Design Profession and Ethics.
2.   Identify career options in Interior Design.
3.   Analyze the influence of historical and cultural factors in the
    development of current interior trends.
4.   Identify the principles and elements of design.
5.   Evaluate the effective use of the principles and elements of design
    in interiors.
6.   Prepare a visual presentation of the seven elements of design and the
    five general principles of design.
7.   Define the difference in color relationships, color keys and systems.
8.   Prepare a color wheel, value chart using primary, secondary and
    tertiary colors. Develop color theory further to include tints,
    shades, tones, neutralization of colors used.
9.   Compare different existing room plans and evaluate how successful
    the plan is aesthetically, economically, and as a functional design.
10.  Select and arrange furniture and materials that are functional and
    aesthetically pleasing.
11.  Describe the values, themes, methods, and history of the discipline
    and identify realistic career objectives related to a course of study
    in the major.
12.  Perform research specific to the discipline and use appropriate
    citation style, if different than MLA.
