Description:
The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician Skills Certificate is a program jointly offered by the Electronic Technology and Industrial Trade Technology Departments. It prepares individuals for employment as electro-mechanical maintenance technicians in high tech manufacturing.
Instruction is provided in the fundamentals of programmable logic controllers, soldering, plumbing, hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating motors, welding, industrial shop practices and preventative maintenance, business ethics, pre-algebra, basic computer skills, reading and writing improvement, and communication skills.
Upon completion of a paid internship, students in the Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician program will receive an industry certification, validating that the student has mastered the job skills identified by the high tech manufacturing industry.
This program was created in cooperation with local high tech manufacturing companies that have a need for trained maintenance technicians. Currently, the industry is experiencing a severe labor shortage. Possible job titles include: technician, electronic technician, machine technician/specialist, machine operator, maintenance worker, maintenance mechanic.
