peoples, cultures, political systems, resources, and economies.
2. Recognize and interpret the spatial distribution of Earth's physical and cultural features using
maps and other geographical tools.
3. Analyze world events and contemporary issues using geographical methods and tools, and
explain how globalization shapes the modern world.

During this course, students will:
1. Locate places, regions and major physical features of the world.
2. Use, analyze and interpret maps.
3. Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of regions with respect to their unique cultural,
political, economic, social, historical and physical geographical patterns.
4. Define and describe major geographic concepts and use them to recognize the distribution of
cultural and physical features on Earth's surface.
5. Utilize geographic concepts and terms to explain consequences of globalization.
6. Explain the underlying social and physical geographic forces shaping global events.
7. Identify and explain the impacts of human-caused environmental problems on world
populations.
