Topics include plant identification, selection and care, plant irrigation needs, landscaping plans, safe use of hand and power tools, and workplace readiness.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Label landscaping materials with correct terminology
2. Select and match pictures and names of plants to preferred growing environment as well as choosing correct care directions
3. Identify and discuss safety rules for hand and power tools
4. Label all significant planting areas, irrigation systems, and structures on a landscaping plan
5. Explain landscaping plan layout listing steps to complete tasks outlined in the plan
6. Recognize and discuss two main types of communication
7. Develop effective communication skills to interact more effectively and improve employment opportunities

    A. Factors that affect plant growth, including water, nutrients, light, air flow, and climate
    B. Techniques for successful plant propagation, e.g. budding, grafting, cuttings, seeds
    C. Principles of plant propagation to determine space needed between plantings
    D. Identify plants on a landscape plan
II. Safe and Appropriate Operation and Maintenance of Hand and Power Equipment
    A. Selection of proper tools
    B. Specific safety procedures for hand tool usage
    C. Safety and best practices for lawnmowers and blowers
III. Proper Landscape Planting and Maintenance Practices
    A. Maintaining basic irrigation systems
