At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

2.  Express orally and in writing basic facts and opinions using various tenses in Spanish.
3.  Comprehend Spanish spoken clearly at normal pace.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Speak extemporaneously in Spanish in formal and informal contexts.
2. Utilize basic intermediate-level Spanish grammar and vocabulary on topics related to
     personal background, work, travel and current events.
3. Develop verbal fluency in casual conversations and transactions.
4. Demonstrate understanding and correct use of verb tenses to express opinions and
     emotions about topics raised in class discussions.
5. Identify the main ideas expressed in Spanish spoken by native speakers.
6. Communicate with sufficient clarity so as to be understood by native speakers.
7. Demonstrate control of accurate Spanish phonetics and pronunciation.
8. Comprehend and utilize new vocabulary from context.
9. Comprehend specific information and main ideas in simple printed texts.
