At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Compare and contrast major world regions with respect to location, natural environments, people, cultures, political systems, resources, and economies.
2. Recognize and interpret the spatial distribution of Earth's physical and cultural features using maps and other geographical tools.
3. Analyze world events and contemporary issues using geographical methods and tools, and explain how globalization shapes the modern world.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Locate places, regions, and major physical features of the world.
2. Use, analyze, and interpret maps.
3. Demonstrate awareness and knowledge of regions with respect to their unique cultural, political, economic, social, historical, and physical geographical patterns.  
4. Define and describe major geographic concepts and use them to recognize the distribution of cultural and physical features on Earth's surface.
5. Utilize geographic concepts and terms to explain the impacts of globalization.
6. Explain the underlying social and physical geographic forces shaping global events.
7. Identify and explain the impacts of human-caused environmental problems on world populations.
