This course meets standards mandated by the California Health and Safety Code, Title 22 and the National Emergency Services Education Standards (NEMSES) published by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT).

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. Apply cognitive paramedic knowledge to the care of an ill or injured person in the controlled environment of a hospital or clinical setting.
2. Demonstrate the ability to perform techniques and procedures as outlined in the California state regulations, Health and Safety Code, Title 22 and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
3. Demonstrate personal behaviors consistent with professional and employer expectations while caring for an ill or injured person.

1. Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, and members of the health care team.
2. Demonstrate ability to perform a thorough patient assessment on an adult patient with a medical complaint or traumatic injury.
3. Demonstrate affective behaviors expected of a professional paramedic.
4. Demonstrate all methods of oxygen therapy.
5. Demonstrate the ability to establish venous access.
6. Demonstrate proper techniques in administering medications through a variety of routes.
7. Demonstrate basic and advanced airway management techniques.
8. Demonstrate skills necessary to splint/immobilize all types of soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries.
