At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.   Create arrangements utilizing the proper techniques and mechanics for European and contemporary floral designs.
2.   Construct different types of armatures used specifically in European design.
3.   Identify European design trends and incorporate concepts into the creation of floral arrangements.

1. Evaluate European influences on floral design.
2. Explore and apply design theory to European and contemporary flora
3. Create European and contemporary floral arrangements.
4. Examine emerging consumer trends as they relate to European floral design.
5. Compare and contrast the different types of European and contemporary design styles.
6. Identify the elements of different types of armatures used specifically in European designs.
7. Evaluate design trends and incorporate concepts into the creation of floral arrangements.
8. Determine appropriate methods of packaging for specific arrangements.

1. Final floral design project representing replicate of significant art piece.
 
Lab Related Assignments
1. Weekly design and construction projects on one to two arrangements per week, including:
     A. Armatures including floral arrangements and hand-tied bouquets
     B. Pave' including floral and conical arrangements
     C. Biedermiere design
     D. Weaving
     E. Free-standing sculpture
2. One portfolio comprising of photos of weekly design projects with accompanying journal entries listing materials and describing methods for each project.
