Student Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:

1.  Conduct face-to-face conversations on everyday topics using appropriate Spanish
    pronunciation and intonation.
2.  Respond to oral statements and questions in Spanish about personal everyday topics.
3.  Utilize common greetings, courtesies and formal/informal conventions in
    Spanish.
4.  Demonstrate cultural awareness and insights about the Spanish-speaking world and
     Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Use common Spanish verbs, adjectives, and nouns in basic conversation.
2. Use verbs in the present tense.
3. Generate questions and phrases that are comprehensible to a native speaker of Spanish.
4. Correctly respond to instructions, requests and invitations given in Spanish.
5. Demonstrate accurate pronunciation at a basic level.
6. Comprehend new vocabulary from context.
7. Identify main ideas and key words in familiar spoken and written statements.
8. Express appropriate courtesy in a formal or informal context .
9. Formulate statements in the present tense that describe preferences, future plans, daily
    activities, family and surroundings.
