2. Examine and evaluate appropriate strategies for working with children 0 to 36 months.
3. Use observations of children to apply developmental theory.

At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Define key terms relating to physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development of
children prenatal to 36 months.
2. Describe typical developmental expectations of young infants (0-8 mo.), mobile
infants (8-18 mo.) and toddlers (18-36 mo.).
3. Evaluate appropriate strategies for adult interactions with infants and toddlers.
4. Apply developmental theory to real life situations in a variety of contexts.
5. Use observational skills to evaluate the growth and development of children ages birth
to 36 months in the natural setting.

5. Conduct a naturalistic observation; write a 2-4 page report using anecdotal and/or running
