Writing for Older Adults
Description:This course is designed to teach older adults the skills necessary to write life stories, prose, and poetry. A supportive learning environment allows students to read their stories and receive feedback in order to bring interest and clarity to their writing. Course activities promote or maintain mental, social and emotional well-being and accommodate varying skill levels. This course is offered online and at numerous locations throughout Sonoma County in partnership with senior service providers.

 Class focuses on writing during class. Open to all genres of creative writing including fiction, memoir, and poetry. Instructor provides a variety of writing prompts that bust through writer’s block and stimulate the imagination.

 Class focuses Myth & Memoir. Class will focus on using mythological storytelling techniques and structures to write autobiographical stories. The course includes reading and discussing myths throughout history in order to study their themes, and examining how they relate to themes in our own lives.
