SWHS 90 Introduction to Social Work and Human Services Description: This course will introduce the human service field and explore the historical, cultural and societal aspects of the human services profession. The course explores societal problems and their causes in the context of the human services, standards and theoretical approaches to human service work and meeting peoples' needs. Students will study multicultural dimensions of helping and current issues in service delivery. Psychological, physiological and social forces influencing the individual both as helper and client are examined. Recommended Preparation: Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100 or appropriate placement based on AB705 verbiage Transferability: CSU  Repeatability: Two Repeats if Grade was D, F, NC, or NP Grading Type: Grade Only Sections listed are for Fall 2023
