MUSC 9 Jazz Appreciation Description: A lecture survey of jazz focusing on its essential musical elements, its origins and evolution as an African-American art form, and the contributions of other American racial/cultural/ethnic groups. Special attention is given to the study of standard jazz forms, stylistic differences, and analysis of live and recorded performances.
