Introduction to Theatre Arts |
Description: | An introduction to theatre as both an art form and social forum, emphasizing the interrelated processes of playwriting, acting, directing, design, technical theatre, theatre criticism, theatre management, and theatre architecture. Students will study theatre from a variety of perspectives through lectures, attending plays, reading scripts, and hands-on experiences. Required attendance at three to four assigned theatre productions (discounted admission; students provide own transportation). |

| Zoom meetings will take place for each class session at the days/time(s) listed. However, this course also includes some in-person components: viewing live theatrical performances and completing 10 production hours by working in the scene shop, costume studio, ushering for the live performances, or completing publicity. All students who will be on the college campus spring 2022 must verify their vaccination status with the college. For the Zoom class meetings, students are expected to be online with a functioning mic, and/or camera for the duration of the live session. More details will be provided in the syllabus distributed by the instructor. |
