RELS 15 Islam Description: This course will explore the origins, spread, and history of Islam, as well as its diversity and presence in the modern world. It will give the student a thorough introduction to the life of Muhammad, the Qur’an, the Hadith, Sunni/Shiite differences, Sufism, Islamic law, philosophy, politics, art, and will discuss Western perceptions, portrayals and encounters with Islam, past and present.
