Civil Drafting Technology |
Description: | Theory and practice of civil engineering drafting and mapping: An introduction to basic manual drafting skills, computer-aided drafting and design (CADD), and the production of civil engineering, surveying and land development plans, plats, maps and drawings utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Topics include linework, lettering skills, geometric constructions, drawing perspectives and types, software organization, commands and tools, symbols, dimensioning, annotation, mapping scales and output types all in the context of civil engineering and surveying project deliverables. |

| Course will utilize Zoom for all instruction. Students are required to have a suitable computer, reliable internet access, a functioning webcam that has both video and audio capabilities, and the ability to print and scan 8-1/2 x 11 inch sheets of paper (clear and legible digital photos may be an acceptable alternative to scanning). SRJC does have a first-come-first-served laptop loaner program through SRJC Student Services. Cell phones and the majority of tablets are not suitable for this course. Computers must be capable of running AutoCAD Civil 3D 2021 (the minimum system requirements can be found here), a web browser, Zoom, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat. Please note that Civil 3D will not run on a Mac OS. Active synchronous visible participation and attendance are required for the entire duration of all lectures and online labs. Further details will be provided in the course syllabus when available and during the first class meeting. |
