FIRE 208 Introduction to Firefighter I Academy Description: This course is designed to prepare the student with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the Firefighter I Academy and is a prerequisite for that class. Recommended Preparation: Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100 Limits on Enrollment: Current Class C California Driver License. A Fire Program Medical Clearance Statement signed by a physician for participation in a rigorous fitness program and other physical activities including running a mile and a half, climbing, rappelling, carrying and lifting heavy equipment (65-100 lbs.), rescue/body drags (165 lbs.) and live fire exercises (crawling and pulling pressurized hose lines).
