Elementary Statistics
Description:Exploration of concepts in statistics, descriptive statistics, probability theory, Central Limit Theorem, estimation of population parameters from a sample, hypothesis testing, correlation and linear regression, introduction to analysis of variance, and computer simulations.
Prerequisites:Completion of MATH 154 or MATH 155 or higher; or Qualifying Placement from Math Assessment. See Student Success & Assessment Services for more information about the assessment process.

 The above section is a hybrid class which combines face-to-face instruction with online learning. Classes meet face-to-face on Thursdays, 1:30-3:30pm with an additional 8-12 hours per week for required online learning activities. Students must have regular access to the internet and a familiarity with using online learning tools. Attendance at the first class meeting is mandatory. Students are required to read the Frequently Asked Questions and completed the Self-Assessment posted on the section page (click the section number in the online listing) before enrolling.This course uses less expensive open source course materials. A graphing calculator without a computer algebra system (CAS) is required.
