Clinical Internship
Description:Beginning practical experience at the novice level in outpatient clinics or other medical facilities to develop clinical medical assisting skills related to fundamental principles and techniques learned in theory and skills courses.
Prerequisites:Completion of MA 160 and MA 161 and MA 162 and PSYCH 1A AND concurrent enrollment in MA 163 and MA 165
Recommended Preparation:Eligibility for ENGL 1A or equivalent
Limits on Enrollment:The healthcare facilities in which students are placed require that the students must comply with all of the following before they are allowed onsite: Currency on all immunizations including annual flu shots; currency on annual tuberculosis clearance; a negative background check, a negative urine drug screen, and possess a current American Heart Association Certified Healthcare Provider CPR card.

 This class meets every Thursday at the assigned onsite clinic from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Due to blood and body fluid exposure during skills lab, and because of the health requirements of the healthcare facilities in which students are placed for their intern/externships, all students must comply with the entry requirements, before being able to register for the class. These requirements can be found here: Health Requirements. The deadline for all the requirements to be met is by Fri, May 26, 2017. Once the requirements are met, please contact Katherine Slusser at kslusser@santarosa.edu, and your name will be placed on the official Eligibility List. Then, follow the SRJC registration process to register for the class. Additional fees: The fee for purchasing the tracker package through CastleBranch is $104, and the SRJC MA skills lab supply fee is $282.36.
