Modular Basic Police Academy - Level II
Description:The course is the second module of the Modular Basic Police Academy course and fulfills the minimum training requirements for Level II Reserve Officers as prescribed by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Topics include criminal law, laws of arrest, evidence, report writing, crimes in progress, hazardous materials, firearms, and chemical agent training.
Prerequisites:Course Completion of AJ 222A or equivalent
Recommended Preparation:Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100
Limits on Enrollment:Student must pass California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Reading and Writing test with a minimum T-Score of 42. There is data compiled by POST that indicates a range of T-40 to T-50 is recommended for use by agencies. Because the academy is an entry requirement for a law enforcement position, it is necessary to use this test for entry level. California residents must pass a criminal history check as outlined in California Penal Code Section, 13511.5. Non-residents must also pass a criminal history check through the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Students must possess a valid driver's license.
