Principles and Practices of Early Childhood Education |
Description: | This is a survey course of the field of early childhood education. It provides an analysis of historical and contemporary models of early childhood education. Included is an examination of developmentally appropriate principles as they apply to children's development, program components, teacher/child/family relationships, professional ethics and professional and career development. The student is required to observe and participate for 15 hours in a licensed early childhood program. The course is appropriate for students wishing to work with children aged 0-8 years in a variety of childcare and educational programs. |
Recommended Preparation: | Eligibility for English 100 or ESL 100. |
Limits on Enrollment: | Students will be required to make arrangements to participate for 15 hours in a licensed early childhood program. |
