Introduction to Public Speaking
Description:This is an introductory public speaking course which is designed to improve a person’s ability to prepare and deliver speeches to an audience and critically evaluate various forms of communication.
Recommended Preparation:Eligibility for ENGL 1A
Transferability:CSU; UC

 This section is a hybrid-online class. Students will attend four mandatory Zoom meetings on Mondays to give and listen to speeches. The rest of the coursework will be completed asynchronously. The four Zoom meetings will be held on the following Mondays from 4:00-10:00pm: 6/12, 6/26, 7/10, 7/17.

Students will attend 6 3-hour classes, MW on 6/12, 6/14, 6/21, 6/26, 6/28, and 7/5. The rest of coursework will be completely asynchronously.  This section provides a free online textbook that will be available once enrolled in the class. This classes uses Canvas as the Learning Management System. While live Zoom meetings take place, some coursework will be completed asynchronistically (done anytime 24/7 in an online modality). Students must have reliable internet access and a functioning webcam that has both video and audio capabilities. Speeches will be delivered in GoReact (4) or in Zoom (1).modality).
