Astronomy Observational Lab |
Description: | Observational laboratory in astronomy. Students will utilize small aperture telescopes, binoculars, star charts and planispheres. Constellation identification and terrestrial and celestial coordinate systems will be introduced. Short exposure and deep sky astrophotography will be conducted. In the case of inclement weather, students will utilize the planetarium, classroom, or computer lab to perform required labs. |
Prerequisites: | Course Completion or Concurrent Enrollment in ASTRON 3; OR ASTRON 4; OR ASTRON 5 |

| The first meeting for the above section will be on 9/18 from 4-6pm in Rm. 2039 Lark Hall. Attendance is mandatory during the entire first class meeting unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructors. The above section then meets from 3pm-midnight on 9/19 and 9/20 in Rm. 2039 and 4pm-1am on 9/21 at a Lake Sonoma observing site. Class will also meet from 4pm-1am on 9/26-9/28 (Thursday night-Saturday night) at an observing site near Lake Sonoma. Students are responsible for their own transportation to each class meeting. |
