Volunteer Firefighter Skills
Description:This is a basic operations course designed to provide the student with an overview of both manipulative and technical firefighting operations and procedures necessary to safely function as a volunteer firefighter. This course is designed to be a pathway for meeting many of the requirements for California State Firefighter I certification.
Recommended Preparation:Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100
Limits on Enrollment:Must pass a criminal background check as required by the respective Sonoma County Fire agency where instruction occurs and possession of a current Class C California Driver's License. medical history statement and cardiac risk assessment signed a by a physician for participation in physical activities including climbing, carrying and lifting heavy equipment (65-100 lbs.), rescue/body drags (165 lbs.) and live fire exercises (crawling and pulling pressurized hose lines).
Repeatability:Two Repeats if Grade was D, F, NC, or NP

 The above section requires students to be a member of an organized fire department, pass a physical examination by a qualified medical provider, agree to adhere to a code of conduct, sign an information release waiver and release agreement and pass a criminal background examination prior to completion of the course.
