Description: | This course is designed to teach the Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) students basic patient care skills, psychosocial/cultural understanding, and communication techniques necessary to help meet the needs of the patient. All aspects of care are designed to allow the student to utilize these skills in a health care facility. Students learn theory and basic patient care skills necessary for certification as a CNA. This course meets all of the CA Department of Public Health requirements for a Nursing Assistant Training and Assessment Program (NATAP). |
Recommended Preparation: | Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100 |

| Due to the training component and clinical offsite hours of this course, class meetings are on an irregular schedule. Check with the instructor for the specific days, hours, and location of the class. The above section meets 3-4 days per week for lecture and skills lab between 7:30am-4:00pm or for clinical from 6:45am – 3:00pm, for not more than 8 hours a day. Mandatory orientation on 5/16 from 6:00-9:00pm in room 4044. Read orientation packet online prior to orientation and bring to orientation. It is not possible to take weekday classes along with this course. |
