ASTRON 12
Astronomy Observational Lab
Description:Observational laboratory in astronomy. Students will utilize small aperture telescopes, binoculars, star charts and planispheres. Constellation identification and terrestrial and celestial coordinate systems will be introduced. Short exposure and deep sky astrophotography will be conducted. In the case of inclement weather, students will utilize the planetarium, classroom, or computer lab to perform required labs.
Prerequisites:Course Completion or Concurrent Enrollment in ASTRON 3; OR ASTRON 4; OR ASTRON 5.
Recommended Preparation:Eligibility for MATH150A; Eligibility for ENGL 100 or ESL 100
Transferability:CSU; UC 
Repeatability:Two Repeats if Grade was D, F, NC, or NP

 The first meeting for the above section will be on 2/19 from 4-6pm in Rm 2039, Lark Hall. Attendance is mandatory during the entire first class meeting unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructors. The above section then meets from 3pm-midnight on 2/20 and 2/21 in Rm. 2039, Lark Hall and 3pm-midnight on 2/22 at a Lake Sonoma observing site. Class will also meet from 3pm-midnight on 2/27-3/1 (Thursday night-Saturday night) at Liberty Glen Campground at Lake Sonoma. There will be a post-trip meeting on 3/13 from 5-6pm in Rm 2039, Lark Hall.

 This class is restricted. Enrollment begins on January 27, 2014 at 8am. The first meeting for the above section will be Wed, 4/23 from 4-6pm in Rm PC 698, Richard W. Call Bldg. Attendance is mandatory during the entire first class meeting unless prior arrangements have been made with the instructor. The above section then meets from 3pm-midnight on 4/24 in PC 698 and 4/25 in Rm 2039 Lark Hall (Santa Rosa Campus), and 4pm-1am on 4/26 at Lake Sonoma Observing site. Class will also meet from 4pm-1am on 5/1-5/3 (Thursday night-Saturday night) at Liberty Glen Campground at Lake Sonoma. There will be a post-trip meeting on 5/15 from 5-6pm in Rm PC 698. Students are responsible for their own transportation to each class meeting.
