Description:

This program is intended for students to pursue transfer to a 5-year professional or 4-year non-professional degree university-level undergraduate program at UC, CSU, or private schools. This program emphasizes coursework in spatial and architectural theories relating to design, visual communications, history, drawing, digital and physical model-making techniques, and presentation skills. The architecture program emphasizes a studio-based design curriculum, students will develop a portfolio of work.

Program Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:

  1. Apply critical thinking skills to create, develop, and analyze relevant design solutions within a given criteria set.
  2. Use a design language to effectively communicate analytical, ecological, and other design concepts through verbal and written language, diagrams, plans and sketches, digital and physical models, and other media.
  3. Work collaboratively and contribute to a team, embracing culturally diverse critiques and contributions from cohorts to achieve holistic design solutions.
  4. Identify preliminary materials, processes, sequencing, building systems, and structures related to basic construction activities.
  5. Identify the pathways to licensure and the roles, responsibilities, and contributions of various design and construction professionals within the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries.

Associate Degree Requirements:

The major is one of several requirements students need to fulfill in order to be awarded the Associate Degree, the highest level of academic achievement recognized by Santa Rosa Junior College. Please note that all of the following requirements must be met in order for the degree to be conferred:

For all students admitted for the Fall 2009 term or any term thereafter, a grade of "C" or better, or "P" if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis, is required for each course applied toward the major.
