Description:
The Associate in Arts for Transfer in Communications Studies 2.0 degree at Santa Rosa Junior College provides students with an introduction to and overview of the field of communication while providing a solid foundation in Communication Studies. Students are provided both theoretical perspectives and practical speaking experience, including the opportunity to be a part of a national award-winning SRJC Forensics Speech, Debate, & Performance Team and/or being part of the student newspaper, The Oak Leaf. This emphasis offers comprehensive lower division baccalaureate work in the field of communication.
Upon successful completion of this program, the student will be able to:
- Apply communication theory to more effectively communicate in a variety of public, private, and social contexts.
- Effectively express one’s ideas through oral communication.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to defend, refute, and critique presentations.

Associate Degree Requirements:
The major is one of several requirements students need to fulfill in order to be awarded the Associate Degree, the highest level of academic achievement recognized by Santa Rosa Junior College. Please note that all of the following requirements must be met in order for the degree to be conferred:
For all students admitted for the Fall 2009 term or any term thereafter,
a grade of "C" or better, or "P" if the course is taken on a pass/no pass basis,
is required for each course applied toward the major.
