I have always been interested in fitness, and started teaching older adult fitness classes while working full time as a business analyst.  However, I didn't pursue the formal education until later in life, and by the time I completed my Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Sonoma State University, I was over 50 years old.  I'm glad I received the education when I was older, because I was able to choose the classes and tailor my degree to align with my interest in Older Adult Fitness.  I studied the science and research to support creating classes that are sustainable as people age.  My thesis topic/project was Designing a Balance Training Program for a community setting.

I have been teaching a variety of fitness classes for over 15 years, through college and community programs.  My goals for these classes are to provide safe training, adapt the exercises as needed and make the classes fun!

I enjoy exploring the U.S. and Canada with my husband Kurt in our motorhome.  We have fortunate in being able to spend over 3 months on the east coast as far north as Nova Scotia, see the Midwest and the Carolinas on 2 different trips, explore the Great Lakes, the Dakotas and Wyoming, and take a couple of trips to the Pacific Northwest.  So many fabulous things to see and do!   As soon as it's safe, we'll be traveling abroad (not in the motorhome :-)).

When in town, I like to like to bike and hike. I am a long time student of Tai Chi and recommends it to all.  It is the only type of exercise scientifically proven to prevent falling.

I'm always happy to answer any questions or concerns about my classes. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email or phone: 415.883.2834.
