Gina Baleria brings extensive experience as a journalist, project manager, writer, and digital communications strategist to her position at Santa Rosa Junior College. Gina also teaches radio production and digital media strategy at San Francisco State University.

She began her career as a broadcast journalist, spending 15 years in TV, radio, and multimedia, as a writer, producer, and reporter. She most recently worked as assistant news and social media director/acting news director for KGO Radio. She also worked as web producer at KCBS creating an award-winning web presence in the crowded news field. Her work at KCBS garnered multiple awards from the Associated Press and Radio and Television News Directors Association, including a national Edward R. Murrow award. As communications manager at California Forward, Gina was instrumental in developing a digital newsroom focused on governance. Prior to that, she produced many insightful and important panels and discussions as Director of Programs and Literary Events at The Commonwealth Club.

Gina is also a Bay Area actor, director, and theatre producer. Gina co-founded and sits on the board of AtmosTheatre/Theatre in the Woods. In addition, she serves on the board of Theatre Bay Area.

When not working, she enjoys hiking, swing dancing, coaching basketball, reading, traveling, and enjoying the city and Bay Area with friends and family. She and her husband live in San Francisco.
