I grew up in a working-class family on the East Coast. I'm also a first generation college-student and was raised by a single mom of four. Books were always my favorite way to escape, and I would disappear into their pages. I was a regular at the local library and spent many hours pouring over the shelves in the children's section.
I came to California in the late 80's, with just my suitcase and a desire to see and experience something new. I fell in love with the Northern California landscape and now consider myself a local. I've been teaching at SRJC since 1996. I feel like the students here are a reflection of the journey I began all those years ago in the pages of a book, and one that continues even now. I learn from my students every day. I relish your optimism and believe in your power to make a difference.

Welcome to my homepage! I'm honored to be part of this outstanding SRJC community, and look forward to meeting all of you this semester. Here's some information about my classes:
Classroom Environment/Teaching Philosophy:
I'm excited about the learning process, and expect you to be, too. Strive to be an active, engaged learner and set high expectations for yourself. These are key components to having a successful semester in just about any college-level class. You can expect me to do my best to facilitate the learning process, but you have to be part of the process by participating in the classroom community. Visit me in my office early and often, with any questions, concerns, to talk about the class, or just to say hello.
Course information and content like the reading list and schedule are posted to Canvas. Make sure to have reliable access to a laptop or other device for success in the course. If you think you may need help from the college to obtain a loaner laptop reacho out to Student Services as soon as possible.
Do I need to buy the textbooks?
Yes! New, used, digital and/or rental textbooks are perfectly fine options and will save you money, just make sure to get the correct edition.
Do you have a website with more information?
YES! These sites will be "open" at the start of the semester. Each class has a course homepage. You can get there from this page by clicking on the class section that you are enrolled in once classes begin, and sometimes sooner.
