Academic Experience

Lecturer, University of California, Berkeley, 2007-2008
Lecturer, Sonoma State University, 1992-2006
Adjunct Faculty, Santa Rosa Junior College, 1996-2002

In Spring 2016, I will be teaching in the Study Abroad program in Florence, Italy.

I am a fifth generation Californian and my academic interest is the study of California's Native cultures. I am trained as an archaeologist, and have worked throughout California, including on Santa Cruz Island, in Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois and Virginia. I have spent several years conducting archaeological research at Fort Ross, a multiethnic community that was part of the Russian Empire in the early 19th century. I really enjoy teaching college students! At SRJC, I have taught courses about Native American cultures, the Native cultures of California, introductory archaeology, biological anthropology and cultural anthropology, and Native American art.

Note: all sections of Anthro 1 require "Our Origins: Discovering Physical Anthropology" by C.S. Larsen, 3rd edition.

Anthro 2 requires "Introducing Cultural Anthropology" by R. Lenkeit
