Dr. Wakefield is a graduate of UC Berkeley who appreciates Sonoma County's natural beauty and distinctiveness. In his free time he enjoys hanging out in coffeehouses, reading literature and staying up on current events (after COVID-19, he nows reads at home).  In the past he has been drawn to dystopian novels such as Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World and 1984.  Wakefield has also recently enjoyed rereading Henry David Thoreau's Walden and "Civil Disobedience", along with Victorian writer Charles Dickens' novel Great Expectations -- Wot Larx!

Wakefield's interests within literature are varied and wide-ranging, from the Greek philosopher Plato to twentieth-century African American Harlem Renaissance writers.  Yet his favorites remain American and British literature.  While his specialty is twentieth-century American drama--with a particular love of African American playwright August Wilson--Wakefield takes great interest in Generation Z and the emerging voices of people in the 21st century.

Besides literature, Wakefield has many varied interests which include general history, behavioral economics & psychology, science & technology, religion, and global international affairs; he loves traveling, going to concerts and plays, and enjoying his newest hobby: hiking.
