Professional Areas of Interest

Chemical Education: Exploring the ways in which people solve problems, looking for the most effective approaches to teach that ability. Developing new textbook and laboratory materials that succeed to convey to the future scientist and engineers the exciting atmosphere and extraordinary variety of contemporary chemical knowledge.

Analytical chemistry and materials science: Application of a vast array of analytical techniques, including synchrotron radiation sources, as well as neutron and x-ray diffraction/scattering probes to the characterization of nano-phase materials and samples of environmental interest.

Professional Involvement and Community Service

Member of the American Chemical Society, I have received training in mentoring individuals belonging to traditionally underrepresented groups in the physical sciences in order to help them overcome any barriers towards a successful career in this field.
