2.  Communicate increased knowledge of Hispanic culture related to the individual project
    selected.

1. General:  it is recommended that an assignment include the creation of a
    'SPAN 49 Portfolio of Materials' which the student can use in the UC petition
    process.  The length of the portfolio will vary according to units afforded.
2.  Written and oral assignments including oral performance, essay, research plan. These are
    established according to the Special Studies 49
    Courses Application proposed by the student and approved by the
    supervising faculty, department chairperson, and supervising administrator.
3. Assessment interview.
