At the conclusion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. Analyze orally or in writing, the topic of the independent study, citing specific
evidence from within the discipline of Humanities (arts, music, film, video, dance,
literature, poetry, cultural criticism) and placing major trends within a cultural context.
2. Identify the relative significance of the topic or project to Humanities.
3. Discuss resources (online, bibliographic) relative to their area of study.
4. Achieve the outcomes and objectives outlined in the special studies application.

I. Content will vary with the student, but generally will capitalize on student's special interests
and abilities.
II. In no case will a student be allowed to undertake a topic that duplicates another regular
offering.
III. Topics related to Humanities may include arts, music, film, video, architecture, dance,
literature, poetry, cultural criticism.
